Idea | form, function, follow

The 3F, worldly known as form follow function, is a renowned architectural and design concept. As simple as this re-arranged quote from Sullivan sound, it's impact was grandiose. To put it more complicately, the shape, size, material and philosophical component of an object should be driven by its purpose: why it is used, how it is used, where, how often, etc...

Now, we all agree that this fundamental of design is awesome, but being the lover of unpredictability and controlled chaos that I am, I cannot help to want to deconstruct this exhausted idea of 3F. And this is what I get:

FORM FOLLOW FUNCTION 1
FUNCTION FOLLOW FORM 2
FORM FUNCTION FOLLOW 3
FUNCTION FORM FOLLOW 4
FOLLOW FORM FUNCTION 5
FOLLOW FUNCTION FORM 6
MORF WOLLOF NOITCNUF 7

Now #1 is the most used and we saw its meaning. #2 is so used that we don't even realize it exists. Think about a ball, did the ball form created the function of playing ball sports or was it the sport that called for an object with a form of a ball. It sounds like the egg before the chicken or the chicken before the egg, therefore we can make an argument in the desired direction.

Coming to 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7, the interest arises.
